Janicka Arthur
Chief Movement Strategist | Wellness Advocate | Visionary Dance Educator
After finding my passion in dance, I continued my education at The Chicago Academy of Arts, the nation’s premier performing and visual arts high school, under the direction of Anna Paskevska and Randy Duncan. Over the years, I became well-versed in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and West African Dance, receiving additional training from the Ailey School, Ballet Chicago, Jeraldyne’s School of Dance, and Deeply Roote Productions.
In 2008, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. It was there that my passion for guiding mature aspiring dancers was born. I credit the art and technique of ballet for nurturing me into a woman full of confidence, strength, and tenacity, able to overcome any obstacle placed before me. I work directly with adult dancers and aspiring dancers alike to guide them through physical movement as they develop a mindset of strength and a soul full of passion.

Miko
Instructor
Dallas-born and a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington’s prestigious Dance Department, my journey with West African Dance began serendipitously at a summer camp at the South Dallas Cultural Center. What started as fascination with captivating rhythms at age 13 blossomed into a passionate pursuit of movement and cultural immersion.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of dancing with several Dallas-based groups while studying under renowned masters including Moussa Diabate, Tenenfig Diabate, Mouminatou Camara, Mamady Sano, and Youssouf Koumbassa, among others. These extraordinary teachers have deeply influenced my approach and understanding of West African Dance traditions. Today, I share my love for this rich cultural expression as a teacher, creating a collaborative studio environment that celebrates individual creativity, builds confidence, and fosters a profound understanding of the dance’s connection to self and heritage. My classes emphasize both technical proficiency and the joy that comes from honoring these time-honored traditions.
